Tuesday, May 16, 2023 (Walton County, Florida). A pickup truck driver stops in the middle of a highway and exits the vehicle to allow a turtle to cross, causing traffic behind the truck to suddenly stop and an 18-wheeler, that couldn't stop in time, to side-swipe two vehicles, including the pickup truck that initially stopped. According to the Walton County Sheriff's office, no one was seriously injured, including the turtle. The turtle has been moved to a pond where it is unlikely to have to make such a dangerous journey again.
