The ATR-72, a French-Italian made turbo proppeled aircraft, was destined to fly about 80 miles from the capital of Kathmandu to the country's second most populous city of Pokhara. The plane lost contact with it's destination airport at about 10:50am local time, only 18 minutes into an intended 27 minute trip. 72 people were on board the plane with 68 passenger and 4 crew members.
