Thursday, July 21, 2022. A man holding a small sharp object in his hand approached Representative Lee Zeldin, a Republican running to be governor of New York, as he was giving a speech at a campaign rally in Perinton, New York. Rep. Zeldin was able to grab the man's arm before the man started attacking, after which several people quickly swarmed the stage and helped to take the man to the ground. The man was then arrested and taken away. Rep. Zeldin was unhurt and resumed his speech afterwards. Given the recent assassination of Japan's former Priminister, Shinzo Abe on July 8th of this month, security at public events for high profile people has becoming more of a concern.
